Men's Shelter
In Fiscal Year 2008-09 WCM served 382 individual unduplicated homeless men, which represents 19,052 nights of shelter. With more homeless men staying in the long-term recovery program, the turnover of utilized beds for men in the program has been less than in past years. Consequently, as high numbers of homeless men continue to enter WCM with fewer beds available, the Men's Shelter continues to shelter men in the overflow Chapel area. In fiscal year 2007-2008, the Men's Shelter was over capacity 203 days and at capacity 34 days. As demonstrated by the above numbers, the need for the WCM Men's Shelter and Recovery Program continues to be significant.

Avis Arbor Women and Children's Shelter
In Fiscal Year 2008-09 we served 157 individual unduplicated homeless women and 27 children. The need for our services is further reflected in the fact we turned away 121 women and 56 children in the last quarter alone for Fiscal Year 2008-09. According to the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions - the fastest growing population of homeless people continues to be single women with children. This same increase is being experienced in the region serviced by the Avis Arbor Women and Children's Recovery Program. To meet the increased need for critical services for homeless women and children, WCM tripled the number of beds since 2003 from 13 to 40 Avis Arbor.

Men's Next Step
The Men's Next Step Program is an extension of the Men's Shelter. These living quarters are available to men who have successfully completed our program and have gainful Employment. The purpose of this program is to allow these 10 men to live in very low cost arrangements while they save for an apartment of their own.
